Women's Retreat

October 4-6, 2019

What is it?

The Women's Retreat is the perfect opportunity for 21st century women to experience the gospel together.
We believe this is best done with great food, engaging worship, messages delivered with conviction, and the occasional opportunity to goof off and enjoy yourself.
You can anticipate trying activities you've always wanted to, having quiet time with the Lord that you don't often have the opportunity for, meeting new friends and connecting with old friends, and leaning into God's presence.
Come join us for a rejuvenating weekend spent with other like-minded women while learning, playing, and worshipping our God together!

Why is it the best?

- Time away to disconnect from busyness to reconnect with The Lord

- Activity classes that allow you to try something new, rekindle an old passion, and maybe find a new hobby

- Outdoor activities where you can enjoy participating, or alternatively, enjoy watching other women do all the hard work

- Fellowship with other daughters of the King, friends new and old

- Time away at Black Lake in the beauty of autumn

- A special menu prepared specifically for the Women's Retreat

SPEAKER: Valerie Clemen

Dr. Valerie Clemen’s continual desire is to invest in the lives of followers of Jesus, encouraging them to grow in his knowledge and grace by teaching practical biblical applications for a deeper walk with Christ. A graduate of Phoenix College School of Nursing, she spent nearly ten years as a critical care ICU nurse. After moving to the Pacific Northwest with her family, she sensed God’s call for further ministerial training. She returned to school earning both a M. Div. degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary and a Ph.D. from Talbot School of Theology in educational studies with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation. Dr. Clemen has served as a full-time residential teaching faculty member at Multnomah University (2001-2016). During this time, she also served as the Chair of Pastoral Ministries Department and the Assistant Dean of Practical Theology. She currently teaches adjunct at MBS while on a partial sabbatical to write and to teach in the local church. She is blessed with her wonderful husband Jim and their seven grown children and fourteen grandchildren.

WORSHIP LEADER: cindy Shaner

Cindy Shaner served as a Worship Coordinator, Worship Director and Worship Pastor for 18 years. Before that she was a public school music teacher. She continues to teach private voice and piano lessons as well as lead worship in multiple venues. Her passion is leading people into God’s Presence through worship.
